We asked Vincent Legacy Scholars to share their recent accomplishments and here’s what we learned:

ANSONIA SERRANO
2011 Scholar

After completing two years of college at the University of Central Missouri, Ansonia Serrano and her family moved back to their original hometown of Orlando, Fla., in 2018. She decided to take a break from school to work on her music full-time and has been writing lyrics and recording in her home studio. Her efforts are paying off! Ansonia’s dad debuted two of her original songs on his radio show on 98.5 The Wire, and a song (“Another Life”) Ansonia wrote to a track her brother produced is now live on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, YouTube and Amazon! Listen to it here.

ZACHERY GARNER
2014 Scholar

A freshman at Kansas City Kansas Community College, Zachery Garner remains passionate about puppeteering. This month he is performing in Anansi the Spider at Mesner Puppet Theater. The show, based on classic folk tales from Africa and the Caribbean, follows the adventures of the mischievous spider Anansi as he plays tricks on the other animals in the jungle. Performances begin Feb. 13 and continue through March 3. The theater is at 1006 E. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64109. For tickets, visit www.mesnerpuppets.org or call 816-235-6222.

JAMES HAWKINS
2018 Scholar

After performing in A Christmas Carol over the holidays, James Hawkins is on to his next acting gig! This March will find James performing the role of Andy in Big River, a collaborative production between Music Theatre Kansas City and The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City. Big River runs March 16-24 and will be performed at B&B Live, 16301 Midland Drive, Shawnee, KS 66217. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children and may be purchased at www.mtkc.org.
