The Sing Street Musical and Its Irish Teens Are Heading to Broadway This Spring

Sing Street

Sing Street, the musical based on the 2016 John Carney movie, is officially headed to Broadway. Set in 1980s Dublin, the show follows a young band who come together to find their voice in the midst of harsh economic realities. Sing Street is the second film of Carney’s to be adapted for the stage - the first being the Tony Award-winning musical Once, which played Starlight in summer of 2016. Sing Street’s current Off-Broadway production was extended from its original closing date and boasts sold out shows at the New York Theatre Workshop. The musical is the 10th musical to be announced for the Broadway season and debuts April 19 at Lyceum Theatre.

'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist' May, Or May Not, Be Your Jam

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist

Musicals are no longer just for the stage. We’ve seen networks go live with musical adaptations, and this January NBC released a new musical TV show - “Zoeys Extraordinary Playlist.” The show follows Zoey Clarke who, after an unusual turn of events, is able to hear the innermost thoughts of those around her...by way of them singing popular songs. Friends, family, and even strangers are now singing their hearts out to Zoey - but only she can hear them. The show also features dancing choreographed by multi-time Emmy Award winner choreographer Mandy Moore. Episodes air Sundays at 8 p.m. central time.
