The 1975 Are Gonna Party Like It's 2016
2016-04-30 CATEGORY: Concerts
The 2016 Capitol Federal Concert Series at Starlight Theatre officially opens tomorrow night, May 3, when The 1975 takes the stage. One of the breakthrough British bands of the past decade, the art-pop quartet entered the alternative rock music scene in 2013 with a self-titled debut album that topped the UK charts at No. 1 and quickly sold 1 million copies worldwide.
The schoolmates credit a number of influences for their sound – from Michael Jackson, Motown and the Rolling Stones to the soundscapes of Brian Eno, Boards of Canada and Sigur Rós.
Among the newest concerts added to this summer’s lineup are:
- Fantasia and Anthony Hamilton (Friday, June 10)
Grammy® Award-winning recording artists Fantasia and Anthony Hamilton bring their co-headlining tour to Starlight. Fans will hear the artists’ many hits, as well as new music from Fantasia’s upcoming fifth studio album, The Definition Of..., and Hamilton’s newly released album, What I’m Feelin’.
- Bryan Adams (Friday, Sept. 16)
Recording artist Bryan Adams continues to be one of music’s most acclaimed live performers. Following the release of his 13th studio album, Get Up, last October, Adams launched his Get Up Tour. The Get Up album features nine new songs and four acoustic versions. A fixture on the global music scene for the past three decades, Adams has sold 65 million records, toured six continents and reached No. 1 in more than 40 countries.
- Alabama (Thursday, Sept. 29)
Last September, Alabama released their first album of new songs since 2001. In support of the release of Southern Drawl, which features the lead single “Wasn’t Through Loving You,” the Grammy® Award-winning country band is embarking on a North American tour this summer. Alabama’s 40+ years of performing has led to sales of more than 73 million albums, a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
