Master Classes to Master Auditions
2014-09-01 CATEGORY: Education
Tweens and teens seeking to shine in their next musical theatre auditions could benefit from attending two Master Classes offered by Starlight Theatre on Sunday, Sept. 28.
The classes, led by a professional music director and choreographer, are available to aspiring artists in grades 5 through 12. Youth will be separated into age-appropriate groups, and parents/guardians may audit the classes for an additional fee.
The Starlight Master Classes are:
BEEF UP YOUR BOOK:
Finessing the Ins and Outs of a Vocal Audition
Led by Starlight music director Anthony Edwards, this class will help students prepare for success in a vocal audition by addressing topics such as personal presentation, audition requirements and assembling a binder of audition music. Participants will practice their audition and receive individual feedback from Edwards.
ROCK THE DANCE CALL:
Learning to Sell Those Steps with a Smile
Led by professional choreographer Christina Burton, this class will ready students for a successful dance call by reviewing how a dance call works, audition requirements and dance techniques. Participants will practice auditioning with three or more styles of dance and receive individual feedback from Burton.
Class times are 1-3:30 p.m. and 4-6:30 p.m. on Sept. 28. Students may register to attend one or both classes.
