Starlight Theatre's Bob Rohlf Internship Program offers various internships for college students interested in building theatre or non-theatre related careers. Interning at Starlight Theatre affords students the unique opportunity to work closely with theatre professionals, contribute to the success of Starlight's summer season, and, of course, learn the "ins and outs" of presenting concerts and Broadway shows.

Note: Starlight Theatre does not provide housing for interns.  Housing procurement is the responsibility of the individual intern.


Accounting
This co-op student will assist the Accounting Department with various tasks including, but not limited to, processing payroll, accounts payable, daily bank deposits, revenue classification, and assisting with financial reporting.

Archival

This intern will work with the Director of Education focusing on the preservation and archiving of sixty years of programs, contracts, photos, and other sensitive documents associated with the theatre's long history.

Concert

This intern will assist the Administrative, Production, and Marketing staff in coordinating activities related to Starlight’s summer concert series.

Development

This intern will work with the Development Department focusing on the Annual Fund and possible capital campaign. Duties will include special event assistance and event staffing, as well as general office and clerical work including mailings, data entry, and filing.

Education
This intern will work with the Director of Education focusing on summer educational programming such as the Blue Star Awards Program, Starlight STARS, Act Like an Animal Camp, workshops and other summer activities that arise. Organizational and preparation duties for fall programming will also be a part of this internship.

Group Sales

This intern will assist the Group Sales Manager in focusing on ticket sales for the 2010 Broadway season at Starlight Theatre. Duties will include preparing for sales meetings and assisting/attending group sales meetings and pitches, as well as performing administrative duties for initiating and completing group sales.

Horticulture

This intern will assist the Facility & Grounds Teams in maintaining the lush and elegant gardens throughout the Starlight Theatre complex, including possibly developing and implementing design concepts as well as performing daily green-industry tasks.

IT

This intern will work with the Information Systems staff to provide computer and networking support for Starlight’s administrative and ticketing operations.

Marketing

This intern will assist the Marketing Department with the 2010 Broadway season at Starlight, as well as other marketing initiatives for educational programs and special events.

Operations

This Co-op will assist the Director of Operations and Theatre Plant in all phases of operations at Starlight Theatre’s facility. Duties include scheduling, event signage design and ordering, oversight of sub-contractor duties, ordering and picking up parts and supplies, and managing Starlight's ID system.

Production Management 
This intern will assist the Associate Producer and Production Manager in coordinating and managing national tours and Starlight productions. This is a fast paced internship with a lot of exposure to the many different elements of Starlight Theatre.

Props and Scenic Art
This intern is the primary source for collecting, purchasing, and building props for Starlight productions while maintaining the visual integrity of scenery on the Starlight stage. This intern will work closely with the Production Manager and the Director, along with the Production Management Intern, and will coordinate with the Properties Department Head during the staging process of a musical.

Sound Production
The duties of this internship include working with the Sound Designer of the Starlight production in setting up and running the sound system and assisting with sound effects. This intern will also run the sound system for pre-show entertainment. Other duties include assisting with installation and maintenance of the sound system and helping with sound related errands.

Music Directing

It is crucial that this intern have Broadway musical training and experience. Duties include duplicating music, note taking, charting orchestra parts, attending and playing the piano for rehearsals, and working with the Director and Musical Director for the Starlight production.

Stage Management

This intern will assist in preparation of all rehearsal spaces, develop necessary paperwork that is generated by stage management, and will assist in other areas of production as well.

Directing

This intern will assist the Director of a Starlight production. Duties may include taking notes and developing blocking notation‚ assisting Stage Management in setting up rehearsal spaces‚ coordinating meetings and facilitating communication between a Director and Production‚ working with actors during rehearsal periods and providing scheduling and communication assistance with the acting and production personnel.
