Starlight Theatre is the premier entertainment treasure of the heartland, where performing arts share center stage with education.  In building our arts education programs, we understand what national studies have consistently shown — that the arts provide an effective learning opportunity for students, yielding increased academic performance (including heightened standardized test scores), reduced absenteeism, and better skill-building, especially in the areas of problem-solving and critical thinking.

Starlight has joined forces with Johnson County Community College, Liberty Parks and Recreation, Metropolitan Community College-Longview, and the Park Hill Community Education Program to provide Starlight classes taught by our very own teaching artists in locations that are convenient to you!		Starlight Theatre and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City are excited and pleased to get underway with the 2009-2010 Blue Star Awards Program.Blue Star is designed to recognize outstanding achievement in musical theatre production and performance among high school students.		This two-week, full-day camp will find campers spending half the day exploring the world of the Kansas City Zoo through hands-on interaction with animals, tours, and crafts. The other half of the day, is spent at Starlight where campers participate in drama class and learn specialized theatre skills.
Starlight STARS musical theatre training program for upper middle and high school students is sure to be a hit!  For three weeks in June, students will enjoy intensive study in dance and voice while participating in musical theatre master classes led by metro Kansas City theatre professionals.		With an eye toward building community partnership with neighboring schools, this yearlong arts course offers training and exposure to the world of musical theatre. The program is designed to enhance student self-confidence, improve academic skills, and generate a love of musical theatre.		Each year Starlight Theatre and its partners award outstanding youth in the Kansas City area with a number of higher education scholarships. Scholarship opportunities are available at a variety of grade levels. All of our scholarships are made possible through generous donations.
