Starlight Theatre is thrilled to announce its new educational program, Starlight on Site! With an eye toward building community partnership with Starlight’s neighboring schools, this yearlong arts course offers training and exposure to the world of musical theatre to fifth- and sixth-grader students. The program is designed to enhance student self-confidence, improve academic and social skills, and generate a love for and appreciation of musical theatre.
The pilot partnership with our neighbor, the Afrikan Centered Education Collegium Campus, begins this fall. The Starlight on Site program will serve approximately 200 students at the ACEC campus, located just outside the Swope Park gates. Both an in-school theatre arts curriculum and an extracurricular afterschool program, in partnership with LINC, will be offered. Students will be admitted to the program by audition, and two of Starlight’s own theatre artists will teach students and direct two culminating productions to be performed by participants.
