Tony Award®-winning performer Idina Menzel will embark on a global concert tour in 2017. Following the release of her fifth solo studio album, idina, last fall, Menzel will play to fans in more than 50 cities this spring and summer. She begins with three shows in Japan before crisscrossing North America. The actress, singer and songwriter lights up the Starlight Theatre stage on Wednesday night, Aug. 16.

Throughout the tour, Menzel will lead audiences through a special journey of songs from idina, as well as other favorites from classic pop, musical theatre and her personal catalog.

Menzel’s diverse career spans stage, film, television and music.

She earned her first Tony Award nomination in 1996 for her portrayal of Maureen in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent. She won the Tony for Best Actress in a Musical in 2004 for her performance as Elphaba in the original cast of Wicked, and her most recent Broadway role as Elizabeth in If/Then also earned a Tony nomination for Best Actress.

Menzel gained fans worldwide when she voiced Elsa in Disney’s 2013 global hit Frozen, in which she sings the Oscar-winning song “Let It Go,” and in the follow-up short Frozen Fever.

As a vocalist, Menzel’s prolific recording career includes the solo albums idina (2016), I Stand (2008), Here (2004) and Still I Can’t Be Still (1998). Her first-ever Christmas album, Holiday Wishes, debuted atop Billboard’s Holiday Albums chart when it was released in October 2014.

In addition to her new album release in 2016, Menzel also filmed Lifetime’s remake of the movie Beaches, which airs Jan. 21. In the remake of the 1988 hit film, she plays the role of CC, made famous by Bette Midler. Her voice is featured on the Beaches EP, which includes classic songs from the original film and new tracks recorded for the remake. The EP was released by Warner Bros. Records on Jan. 13.
