Acclaimed singer-songwriter John Legend, with special guest Gallant, takes his Darkness and Light Tour to 27 North American cities for 29 total performances this spring. The 10-time Grammy Award winner will light up the night at Starlight Theatre on Tuesday, June 13.
The concert tour follows the Dec. 2 release of Legend’s fifth studio album, Darkness and Light, which has received critical praise. USA Today hailed the album as Legend’s “most personal record,” TIME magazine called the body of work “unflappably classy,” and The New York Times pointed to the album’s hit single “Love Me Now” as “a seize the moment song.”
The multi-platinum-selling Legend also continues his foray into the world of film as one of the principals in Get Lifted Film Co. The production company has an executive producing credit on the 14-time Oscar-nominated film La La Land in which Legend also appears, playing a jazz band leader alongside stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. He contributed the original song “Start a Fire” to the film’s soundtrack.
Since releasing his debut album, Get Lifted, in December 2004, Legend has won 10 Grammys, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, the BET Award for Best New Artist and the special Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
His hit single, “All of Me,” from his fourth studio album is Legend’s highest selling and charting song to date, reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Mainstream Top 40 and Rhythmic charts. The single, “Glory,” which he wrote and performed with Common for the 2014 film Selma, earned Legend an Academy Award, Golden Globe, Grammy and a Critic’s Choice Award.
Touring with Legend special guest Gallant from Columbia, Md. The singer-songwriter released his debut album, Ology, in April 2014 and made his national television debut in May 2016, performing his single “Weight in Gold” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
