In conjunction with the release of their newest single, O.A.R. announces the 37-city “Just Like Paradise” 2018 summer tour. Touring with special guest Matt Nathanson, O.A.R. will play at Starlight Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 8.
“It feels like everyone could use a little extra summer fun this year,” lead singer and songwriter Marc Roberge said. “The song (‘Just Like Paradise’) and tour really catch that feeling. We’re looking forward to getting out there, playing what people want to hear, and having as much fun as possible along the way.”
O.A.R. began to develop their unique sound while in high school in Rockville, Md. With three albums under their belt before they finished college, the band began pursuing music full time in summer 2001. By late 2008, O.A.R. had released six studio albums and three live double-disc CDs. In 2014, their eighth studio album The Rockville LP was released, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart and No. 6 on the Top Current Rock Albums chart. The Rockville LP featured hit singles “Favorite Song,” “Two Hands Up” and “Peace.” O.A.R. has performed on many national TV shows and specials, including the 2015 New Year’s Eve Celebration in Times Square. The band marked their 20th anniversary in 2016 with the release of XX, a career-spanning collection that highlights key moments from O.A.R.’s career plus two new songs including “I Go Through.”
Based in San Francisco, Matt Nathanson is a highly applauded songwriter and engaging performer. His 2007 album, Some Mad Hope, introduced the breakthrough, multi-platinum hit “Come on Get Higher.” His 2013 release, Last of The Great Pretenders, debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard Top 200 and hit No. 1 on iTunes’ Alternative Albums chart. Nathanson’s latest album, 2015’s Show Me Your Fangs, is hailed as his most adventurous and prolific album to date, featuring the songs, “Giants,” “Bill Murray” and “Adrenaline.”
