Infants - Grade 2

Dancin’ & Groovin’ with Mommy (Ages 1 - 3)
Mommy and tots should come ready to use their imaginations and bodies to move to the music. Kids (and mommies!) will learn how to move their bodies, explore rhythm and even do some creative stretching!
Mondays, Sept. 22 - Oct. 27; 9 - 9:45 a.m.

Creative Movement for Toddlers (Ages 3 - 5)
This fun beginner class will emphasize coordination skills through movement with music. Toddlers will move to energetic children’s songs while learning basic dance techniques, rhythm, stretching and theatrical movement.
Saturdays, Oct. 11 - Nov. 15; 9 - 9:45 a.m.
Cost: $90

Act It Up (Ages 3 - 5)
In this energetic drama class, students will enjoy a warm-up, theatre and movement games, storytelling and acting out the day’s story. They will be introduced to many aspects of theatre and learn to work in a group.

Once Upon Starlight (Grades 1 - 2)
In this creative class, students will be introduced to the concept and creation of “story” through activities and games. The class will create its very own fairy tale scene for parents to watch. Students will learn basic acting skills, gain confidence and learn to work collaboratively.
Tuesdays; Sep. 23 - Oct. 28; 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Grades 3 - 8 

Sing Out (Grades 3 - 5)
Expect a fun and relaxed introduction to singing in this class.
Students will learn basic musicianship, including breath control and projection, while singing songs that energize their bodies and celebrate their voices.
Mondays, Sept. 22 - Nov. 10; 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Introduction to Acting (Grades 3 - 5)
This fun, yet informative class will teach students that their bodies are the greatest theatrical instrument. Students will learn to use their voice, body and imagination to express themselves.  This is a great choice for youngsters who want to build confidence and explore the world of acting and working with a script.
Wednesdays, Sept. 24 - Nov. 12; 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Show Stoppers (Grades 6 - 8)
This energetic class is designed for middle-school students who are interested in learning songs from Broadway’s most popular musicals. Ensemble vocal skills and performance will be the focus, with some individual solo work included as well. Students should have prior vocal experience.

Theatre 101 (Grades 6 - 8)
This “nuts and bolts” class will emphasize basic concepts of theatre performance, including theatrical vocabulary, movement and acting techniques. Through participation and exploration, students will gain an understanding of theatre and what it means to work collaboratively. They will memorize and recite in order to create mini performances of short texts.

NEW! Starlight Youth Companies

GRADES 4 - 8
Starlight Theatre is excited to launch its new line of class programming, our Youth Companies. These two groups are for the serious theatre student who wants to really dive into some exciting work. Students will work closely together to form their own unique theatre troupe and through ensemble activities in acting, movement and voice, they will create an original piece of theatre. In a safe, supportive and encouraging atmosphere, this class will teach students how to be active
participants in both the creation and performance of live theatre, and as a result, will help them become more active participants in their own lives.Students will perform their original piece for parents during the last class. Please note: this course is a year long course, and students must attend both the fall and spring session of classes.
Youth Company I for grades 4 & 5:
Mondays, Sept. 22 - Nov. 10 & Jan. 12 - March 9; 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Youth Company II for grades 6 - 8:
Tuesdays, Sept. 23 - Nov. 11 & Jan. 13 - March 10; 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

High School

Vocal Technique and Auditioning
This is the perfect choice for those looking to improve their vocal technique and auditioning skills. In this class, students will work on vocals while learning appropriate Broadway songs for auditions. They will gain understanding of what directors and casting agents look for in musical theatre auditions. Résumés and photos will also be discussed. Students should have prior vocal experience.
Saturdays, Sept. 27 - Oct. 11; 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Cost: $150

So, You Think I Can Dance?
Students will gain confi dence as they learn the basic dance steps used by Broadway’s greatest choreographers. This workshop will be structured around movement to strengthen coordination and
control for actors. Students will also be evaluated, coached and prepared to do a dance audition with confi dence.
Saturdays, Sept. 27 - Oct. 4; 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Cost: $150

Cold Readings*
Using contemporary material, students will stretch and deepen their performance skills through scene work and cold readings. They also will participate in a mock-professional audition and callback, helping students arrive more prepared at auditions for professional, community and university theatres.
Saturdays, Oct. 18 - 25; 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Cost: $150

Scene Study*
This class will require work with scene partners and out-of-class preparation. Students must have a memorized, age-appropriate one-minute monologue for the mock audition.
Saturdays, Nov. 1 - 8; 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Stage Management
This class will introduce students to the professional world of stage management--the essential link between the various branches of a theatre production and company. This class will teach students how to manage rehearsals, actors, directors, designers, props and costume fi ttings, as well as the performances on stage. They will also learn how to create and manage a wellorganized prompt book and provide tips on dealing with challenging
situations.
