Testimonials

"Starlight is such a wonderful place to work! Not only does it give me a tremendous amount of pride to say that I work for such an important community landmark, but I genuinely enjoy getting up and going to work every single day. Starlight takes such good care of its employees, and I feel so fortunate that I can contribute to the success of this historic outdoor venue!"

Andrew Lang
Director of Philanthropy

"My first touch-point with Starlight was as a student in their Community Engagement programs. These programs allowed me to interact with Starlight as more than an audience member and provided a meaningful connection that stuck with me long after I graduated high school. When I saw the job posting for an Education (now Community Engagement) Coordinator at Starlight, I jumped at the opportunity to apply. Working at Starlight is so fulfilling. Getting to watch our students experience the same magic I felt when I was a participant – that feeling is timeless. The support I felt as a student still translates in my day-to-day work – that is what it is to be a part of the Starlight family. I have witnessed firsthand how having someone in your corner telling you how capable you are- and that what you contribute matters- can change a person’s life. That’s what Starlight does for our community. These programs have the power to positively impact and change lives. They certainly changed mine."

 Katie McKernan
Community Engagement Coordinator

"Working for Starlight has been the highlight of my career. I enjoy coming into work every day because I love the people I work with and I love what I do! It has also provided me with professional growth and development and I enjoy the challenges of my role. I feel that I am making a lasting contribution to the organization and I am proud to call Starlight home."

Jacques’ Hassen
Director of Human Resources

"I have worked at Starlight for over 15 seasons, watching firsthand as the organization evolves and grows. This venue rightfully holds a special place in the Kansas City arts landscape, providing unique experiences and opportunities in every department. In my position, I’ve had the joy of watching students grow up through our community engagement programs, in some instances even becoming my full-time Starlight colleagues."
