Center Stage, the young professionals group at Starlight Theatre, is preparing to host an event that will leave guests dreaming of springtime in Paris as they directly support an important education program at Starlight.

Center Stage’s second annual After Hours at the Towers begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 21 inside Starlight’s Cohen Community Stage House. The evening’s Parisian theme is inspired by Starlight’s upcoming production of An American in Paris. Guests will enjoy music by Kansas City band Lost Wax, Parisian-inspired food and drinks provided by local restaurants, and surprise entertainment throughout the night.

Funds raised from event sponsorships will benefit the Bob Rohlf Internship Program, which provides paid summer internships to college students across multiple departments at Starlight.

“Interns represent the future of the arts in our community,” said Jessica Bjorgaard, After Hours at the Towers event chair, “and the internships provided by the Bob Rohlf Internship Program help to cultivate strong leadership skills in the next generation.”

Center Stage has a goal to raise at least $15,000 in sponsorships to support the 2017 internship program.

“Without the support of generous donors, we would not be able to offer paid internships,” said Amy Reinert-Price, Starlight’s director of education. “Paid internships help Starlight be competitive in recruiting high-quality interns who have great potential to impact the Kansas City arts scene for generations to come.”

Tickets for After Hours at the Towers are on sale now for $30-70. Guests must be 21 or older to attend. All tickets include complimentary food, beer and wine.

A limited number of VIP add-on tickets are also available. VIP buyers will enjoy an open bar with well drinks, be entered in a VIP-only raffle and receive discounts on tickets to An American in Paris at Starlight on July 11-16.
