The 61st Annual Grammy Award nominations were announced in December and four stand-out Broadway shows are up for the coveted “Best Musical Theater Album” award. New recordings of Broadway revivals were a favorite for nominations this year, with Once On This Island, My Fair Lady and Carousel all earning nods. 2018 Tony Award-Winning show for Best Musical, The Band’s Visit, also earned a spot in the category and already won Tonys for Best Score and Best Orchestrations. Rounding out the category is Jesus Christ Superstar: Live In Concert - which was televised in April 2018. The 61st Annual Grammy Awards will be hosted by Alicia Keys on Sunday, February 10, and broadcast live on CBS at 7 p.m. Central time.

Starlight Earns 2018 Visit KC Award

Thank you to all who voted for Starlight in VisitKC’s 2018 Visitors’ Choice Awards! We’re proud to announce that we took home the award for Favorite Live Music Venue. An annual program that honors area businesses, museums, fountains and more as traveler favorites, the VisitKC Awards are voted exclusively on by voters who reside outside of the metro. The awards include 48 categories, ranging from Favorite Barbecue Restaurant to Favorite Jazz Venue and everything in between. Other entertainment category winners include The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Kansas City Symphony and The Blue Room. Check out visit kc dot com for a list of all 2018 winners.

‘Fosse/Verdon’ Explores Tortured Relationship Of Dance Greats Bob Fosse And Gwen Verdon

The cable network FX has officially given the green light to a new, eight-episode limited series titled Fosse/Verdon. Based on the biography Fosse by Sam Wasson, this project follows the creative and romantic story of the influential choreographer and director, Bob Fosse, and one of the greatest Broadway dancers of all time, Gwen Verdon. With a star-studded creative team that includes Broadway producers, directors and choreographers from titles like Dear Evan Hansen, Hello, Dolly!, Hamilton and Cats, as well as the daughter of Fosse and Verdon, we can’t wait for this exciting new show’s premiere. We’ll bring you updates as we hear them but, in the meantime, set your DVRs for April 2019 when Fosse/Verdon is set to air on FX.

Sting Will Star in Canadian Premiere of His Broadway Musical The Last Ship

Sting returns for a limited engagement this month in Toronto to his musical The Last Ship, for which he wrote the original music and lyrics and that features some of his best-loved songs. Inspired by Sting’s childhood experiences, The Last Ship tells the story of the collective defiance of a community facing the demise of the shipbuilding industry, alongside a poignant and moving romantic tale of childhood sweethearts and the adults they grew up to become.
