High Schools Can Still Register for 2018-19 Blue Star Awards

There’s still time for qualifying high schools to join the 2018-19 Blue Star Awards!

Kansas City area high schools that have previously participated in the Blue Star Awards have completed their registration processes, and now Starlight is opening up registrations to schools that are new to the program or whose participation may have lapsed. The only caveat? New schools with musicals in November will not qualify because Starlight’s adjudication calendars for that month are already completely full. If, however, your school is performing its musical this fall in a month other than November or in the spring, Starlight would be happy to hear from your school’s theatre teacher!

New guidelines for Blue Star Awards participation have extended the mileage radius from Starlight. Now, high schools located within a 50-mile drive of Starlight (up from 40 miles previously) may apply to participate. Other new program features this year include allowance for up to eight nominees in each award category, a new Community Impact Award and a new student council.

Speaking of the Blue Star Awards, it’s time to save some dates on your fall calendar to get out and see outstanding high school musical performances. The following schools will kick off the 17th year of the Blue Star Awards with shows in October and early November. A full listing of participating schools and musicals will be posted soon on www.kcstarlight.com/bluestarawards.
