A pair of official “kinky boots” arrived at Starlight Theatre in advance of the show, and they soon took a walking tour of Kansas City landmarks and highlights. The sturdy, sparkly, thigh-high red stilettos caught the eye of Kansas City locals and visitors as they made their way around town Sept. 27.

A group of ladies from Illinois were thrilled when their vacation stop at the World War I Memorial included an unexpected sighting of ‘kinky boots,’ modeled by Starlight’s John Parker

On a stop atop the National World War I Museum and Memorial, the site of the boots and their wearer (John Parker, Starlight’s education assistant) thrilled a group of ladies from Illinois on a girls’ getaway. They just had to get a photo to commemorate the high-heeled fun!

Of course, the boots also had to check out the J.C. Nichols Fountain on the Plaza, the shuttlecocks on the lawn of the Nelson, hop a ride on the streetcar, make a quick stop at The K and Arrowhead, and more. BBQ, unfortunately, will have to wait for another day.

And, then, walk your own boots out to Starlight for 2013’s Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Kinky Boots. The national tour is in town for just three performances Sept. 29-Oct. 1. Shows start at 8 p.m.
