A Splash and a Smash!

The first shows of Starlight Theatre’s 67th Broadway season will splash audiences with Disney magic and deliver a smash-hit farewell tour! We think this two-pack may be just the ticket for a Mother’s Day gift!

The 2017 Broadway season gets off to swimmingly good start on June 3-11 when Starlight presents the blockbuster Disney The Little Mermaid. There will be eight performances (no show on Monday), and the undersea adventures begin nightly at 8 p.m.

Families, Disney fans, the young and the young at heart will delight in this musical that is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless tale and adapted from the beloved Disney film released 27 years ago. The musical features all of the songs audiences love, including “Part of Your World,” “Kiss the Girl” and the Academy Award-winning “Under the Sea.”

Insider tip: You’ll find the best availability of the best seats at Starlight on June 10-11, since season tickets were not sold for those performances.

Shortly after The Little Mermaid catches a wave to the next stop on its 19-city tour, one of the most successful musicals of all time will send out an S.O.S. to ABBA fans. MAMMA MIA! lights up the Starlight stage (perhaps for the final time) for a weekend special engagement June 23-25. The ultimate feel-good jukebox musical stops in Kansas City on the final leg of its North American farewell tour.

MAMMA MIA! debuted in London’s West End 17 years ago, opened on Broadway in October 2001 (and ran continuously through September 2015), and soon spawned international and North American tours. All told, more than 54 million people worldwide have embraced the characters, story and music of writer Catherine Johnson’s sunny, funny tale that unfolds on a Greek island paradise.
