Starlight’s own Samuel Vincent Aubuchon, two-time Blue Star Award winner and former member of the Starlight Stars of Tomorrow, hopes to inspire creativity and celebrate new artists in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic—by hosting a nationwide “Living Room Songwriters Competition.”

Open until April 8, interested songwriters of all genres and ages can submit a performance of their original work through a simple Google form, available here. Preliminary judges will select a Top Four to announce April 11 before the winner is chosen and announced via live stream on April 15. A panel of star-studded judges, including Natalie Weiss from “Breaking Down the Riffs” on YouTube, 2019 Jimmy Awards finalist Casey Likes, singer/songwriter Anson Seabra and Dear Evan Hansen’s Andrew Barth Feldman, will select the winner.

The winner of the “Living Room Songwriters Competition” will receive a free online session with Broadway’s Natalie Weiss, a $75 Visa gift card and, if they choose to produce the track, distribution of their song on Spotify/Apple Music.

Samuel Vincent Aubuchon traveled to New York City to represent Starlight at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (Jimmy Awards) in 2018 and 2019 after winning the Blue Star Award for Outstanding Actor in a Lead Role. Since graduating high school, he’s released numerous tracks on Spotify and continues to pursue his performance career in Kansas City.
