Our final Starlight Senior in the spotlight has been active in theatre at Shawnee Mission South throughout her high school years. She shared her passion for performing and creativity as a member of Starlight’s Blue Star Awards Student Council.

Going to Thescon with my high school’s theatre troupe!

 

What you missed most with school being closed:
Graduation and prom.

Best experiences with Starlight:
My first Blue Star Awards ceremony and seeing the Laura Osnes’ talk-back in February 2020.

 

Advice you’d give to freshmen to help them navigate high school:
Be yourself and don’t be afraid to try new things!

 

Alexa Morgan in Mamma Mia
Just a few months after donning glass slippers in Cinderella, Alexa found another role to be a perfect fit – she landed the lead role of Sophie Sheridan in Mamma Mia! This dancing queen surely went out on a high note in the Shawnee Mission South spring 2020 production.

 

How you made the most of your final virtual months of senior year:
Lots of Zooming with friends and spending time with family.

 

Plans for your summer:
I am participating in KC Superstar and taking lots of dance classes.

 

Plans for your immediate future:
I am pursuing a BFA in Acting at Texas Christian University.

 

Alexa Morgan is ready to continue her education at Texas Christian University
After the virtual end to her senior year at Shawnee Mission South High School, Alexa is ready to continue her education at Texas Christian University where she’ll pursue a BFA in Acting.

 

Hopes/dreams for your future:
To be successful in film and on Broadway!

 

Favorite musical and why:
Bandstand It’s an important story to be told, and I love jazz.

 

Alexa Morgan in Cinderella
Just like a certain princess, Alexa’s dreams came true when she was cast in the lead role of Ella in Shawnee Mission South’s production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella last fall.

 

Favorite song, artist and why:
I can’t pick a favorite song, but I love Taylor Swift!

 

Words you live by:
“You are enough.”

 

Why theatre?
It’s my favorite way to express myself. I feel the most like myself when I’m performing.
