Inspired by so many Broadway stars sharing songs from their living rooms, our 2019 Starlight Stars recently took to Zoom to create a rendition of “Found/Tonight”—a mashup of two popular songs from Broadway’s hit musicals Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen. Released in 2018, “Found/Tonight” combines “The Story of Tonight” from Hamilton with Dear Evan Hansen’s “You Will Be Found.”

The Starlight Stars can’t wait to be back together on and off stage—when it’s safe to do so again. In the meantime, they’ll stick to Zoom performances.

Starlight’s two performance troupes, the Starlight Stars and Starlight Stars of Tomorrow, learn from theatre professionals and gain experience in a variety of performance styles. Participants receive access to master classes and industry-insider workshops. Starlight Stars is geared toward high school students, while Starlight Stars of Tomorrow serves middle school students.

While these programs will look very different in 2020, Starlight’s community engagement department is determined to offer this important education program to Kansas City metro students. Students submitted recorded auditions in May, and Starlight will announce the troupes’ 2020 rosters soon. The programs will initially take place virtually and move to in-person opportunities at a later date.
