Act Like An Animal Camp

Each summer Starlight Theatre partners with our neighbor, the Kansas City Zoo, to offer Act Like An Animal Camp for children ages 5 to 10.

Each session of this popular, interactive day camp meets for two weeks. Children, in age-appropriate groups, spend half of each camp day at Starlight exploring theatre arts and learning specialized theatre skills, including storytelling, acting, movement and music. During the other half of the day, campers journey to the zoo to enjoy hands-on interaction with animals, take tours, create crafts and play camp games.

A final performance and camper art display highlight the weeks' “ed-ventures” for family and friends.

“My son loved the camp, and it really brought out a different side of him. He was focused and creative with his character, and he showed more appreciation for what went on behind the scenes of a production. He is inspired to learn more and try out for 'real' parts in plays.”

- Kimberly Mann, mother of 2016 camper

“What an exceptional program! My daughter had an amazing week creating set designs, learning new songs, dancing and meeting new friends. And at the end, our family was treated to a wonderful final performance. This is not your typical kids "end of camp" song and dance. My daughter can’t wait to do this again next year.”

“Very organized and awesome experience for my kids.”

“My son had a wonderful time, and I loved the daily updates of his day. Looking forward to more camps.”
