Lauv has quietly and steadily become one of pop’s brightest rising stars. He has released his music completely independently, written for some of the biggest stars in the world, performed on late night talk shows, played stadiums opening for Ed Sheeran and sold out shows in 21 countries as a headliner. And he has done all of this without releasing an album. That’s about to change, though, with Lauv’s official debut, “~how i’m feeling~.” A 21-song tour de force, the project marks a breakthrough from a young singer-songwriter and producer. With millions of fans already on board, and a sound that’s built for a stadium-size audience, 2020 is shaping up to be a wild ride for Lauv—including a night under the stars at Starlight Sunday, August 16.
Joining Lauv is Charlotte Lawrence, a pop singer with a dark edge. Her most recent single “Why Do You Love Me” showcases the reward of her musical risks. Usually making music more left of pop, this single explores a new sound incorporating rock and alternative music within pop. She has millions of streams with breakout songs “Just The Same” and “Sleep Talking,” two viral hits which perfectly capture her trojan horse approach to music as she packs in deeply personal lyrics through irresistible melodies and festival-headlining choruses.
Alexander 23 opens the evening after emerging in 2019 with a vibe that was part heartbroken slacker and part playfully sparse, software-constructed pop on the single "Dirty AF1s." Without revealing his identity at first (his social media featured the banner "Who is this"), Alexander 23 issued his debut single on Interscope in March 2019. He followed the release of "Dirty AF1s" with a tour of the U.S. in support of Alec Benjamin and an appearance at that August's Lollapalooza festival.
