Girl Scouts See Shows, Raise Funds

2015-05-05
CATEGORY: Broadway

Look for the Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri to be out in force at several Broadway shows this summer. Starlight Theatre is again partnering on a fundraising effort that, in 2014, returned more than $4,500 from ticket sales to the regional Girl Scouts organization.

With the volume of attendees it attracts, the Girl Scouts receive Starlight’s group discounted ticket price. They, in turn, charge members and their families a slightly higher price (still lower than Starlight’s regular single ticket price). The difference is then rebated to the Girl Scouts organization, which uses the funds for a variety of educational and developmental programs for the girls.

In 2014, nearly 2,000 Girl Scouts and family members attended four shows at Starlight.

This season, four Girl Scout fundraiser nights and one group discount night are scheduled. The Girl Scout fundraiser nights are:

• Annie – Friday, June 19
• Cinderella – Wednesday, July 8
• Cinderella – Saturday, July 11
• Mary Poppins – Wednesday, July 29

A traditional group discount night for Girl Scouts will be offered at Cirque Eloize iD on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Girl Scouts are involved at Starlight in a volunteer way, too. Senior Girl Scouts will volunteer during the 2015 family festival, which will be held before every performance of Cinderella on July 7-12. The senior scouts assist with crafts, games, line management and more, as they earn community service hours and enjoy a fun evening at Starlight.

We encourage all Girl Scouts to join in the fun of a night of theatre at Starlight this summer! To take advantage of the fundraisers’ group discount pricing, visit the Girl Scouts website.

If your troop would like to book a block of seats together, please contact Starlight group sales at 816.997.1137 or groups@kcstarlight.com.
