Ginger Zee proved she’s the Belle of the “Dancing with the Stars” ballroom on the episode that aired Monday, April 11.
“For 20 years, I’ve wanted to be Belle,” Zee told reporters after the show. “And tonight, I got to live out a dream.”
The “Good Morning America” meteorologist and her pro dancing partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, unleashed a dazzling Beauty and the Beast-inspired performance in honor of Disney Week. Their dance began with a set of the little town that looked like it had been swiped right off of a Broadway stage. Zee and Chmerkoskiy brought the beloved Disney characters, Belle and Gaston, to life with a pitch-perfect foxtrot to “Belle (Little Town).”
For their efforts, the pair earned the highest score – a 27 – of season 22 so far (although Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas tied them later in the night).
“What a tasty dish! A hint of tango on a bed of foxtrot with a dressing of musicality and style,” said DWTS judge Len Goodman. “Undoubtedly the best dance this season.”
Chmerkoskiy has now danced the steps of Beauty and the Beast’s hero and villain. During season 18, Chmerkoskiy and partner Danica McKellar (“The Wonder Years”) performed to “Be Our Guest.” The two finished the season in sixth place after being eliminated in week 8.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will take the Starlight Theatre stage July 13-19. Click here for more information.
