Kansas City audiences are laughing out LOUDLY at the not-so-proper princesses starring in DISENCHANTED at Starlight Indoors through Sunday, March 19.
The final show of the 2016-17 indoor series, this hit musical finds your favorite fairytale princesses tossing off their tiaras and setting the record straight! The brainchild of former history teacher Dennis T. Giacino, DISENCHANTED got its start at the Orlando International Film Festival in 2011 and has been selling out venues worldwide ever since. The show even enjoyed a run Off-Broadway two years ago.
Sleeping Beauty Daniella Richards had fun telling KCTV-5 audiences what to expect when she appeared on “Better KC” last week. Watch the video.
And other area media outlets found plenty to applaud when reviewing this irreverent musical comedy:
- Performink Kansas City gave credit to the “six phenomenally talented women (on stage)” and their “high energy antics, surprise dance breaks, comedic asides, and flawless characterizations.” Read the review.
- Broadwayworld.com noted “every song was comedic and had the audience rolling in their seats and cheering each princess on.” Read the review.
- “All the storybook elements are here…but they’ve been rendered outrageous, irreverent, bawdy and hilarious,” exclaimed kcmetropolis.org. Read the review.
- And, from the farther north reaches of Missouri, the Cameron Citizen-Observer raved that “DISENCHANTED is engaging, empowering, irreverent and most of all funny! The music is amazing, the voices bringing it to life, absolutely astounding.” Read the review.
Great seats are still available for the eight remaining performances March 14-19. A special Corks & Comedy night package on Thursday, March 16 includes a pre-show wine tasting, snack pairing and ticket to the show.
