A Message From Rich Baker, Starlight's President & CEO

After making every effort to proceed with our previously announced production of Godspell, we are sad to announce its cancellation. We explored many options, but simply could not find a financially responsible way of staging this show – especially with the added expense of COVID-19 precautionary measures. For the first time since our historic theatre’s inception in 1950, Starlight’s beloved stage will remain empty with no Broadway or concert offerings under the stars in its 2020 summer season.

Starlight has been a part of the Kansas City landscape for 70 years, and we will return next summer with a fantastic – and packed – season under the stars. Without shows this summer, Starlight is estimating a loss of over $4 million. In the meantime, we need your help to sustain.

We hope the following can help to answer questions you may have.

What do I do about my cancelled shows? You have several options:

  • Donate your tickets to Starlight.

Donations are a lifeline for us right now. Without ticket sales, Starlight faces a difficult year. We respect that everyone's circumstances are different and appreciate your consideration of this option.

  • Automatic transfer to on account balance for future purchases.
    (No action required.)
  • Receive a refund via the original payment method.

You may also combine any of the options above. We're happy to tailor a plan that works for you.

Who do I contact with my preferred option?

  • For best service, please submit your preferences via email at exchanges@kcstarlight.com. Due to a large volume of transactions to be processed, please allow 7-10 business days for a response. To speak with a representative, call (816) 363-7827, but please understand you may experience longer than normal wait times.

It wouldn’t be summer without Starlight, and it wouldn’t be Starlight without incredible supporters like you. While this summer will look quite different from years past, I’m confident that we will come back stronger in 2021 because of the support of the Kansas City community. Thank you for your continued support of Starlight.

Until then, stay strong Kansas City.

Rich Baker
President & CEO
