Starlight is excited to partner with neighboring organizations this April to host another lifesaving blood drive event. The Swope Park Community Blood Drive is scheduled for Monday, April 19 and Tuesday, April 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
More than 3500 blood donations are needed each week to successfully meet the needs of patients. Though the COVID-19 pandemic has seen progress, there still remains a shortage of blood supply.
Donor stations will be set up inside Starlight’s Applause Club, located on the east side of the theatre, and can be accessed through Gate 8. Curbside parking will be available in addition to the Zoo’s Zebra and Cheetah parking lots.
For the safety of all, face masks are required. Donors are asked to not attend if they are experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms or a fever, or have been diagnosed with or suspected of having COVID-19 until 14 days after their illness has resolved.
Starlight strongly encourages new and past donors to sign up for this great cause. Since last summer, Starlight has registered over 140 donors, collecting 155 units of blood. Each unit of blood helps up to three hospital patients.
Appointments are preferred. Visit savealifenow.org/group to sign up and enter group code: EG9Z.
