Candy Cane Run Boosts Starlight Education Efforts

Runners will traverse the open spaces around Starlight Theatre and throughout Swope Park on Saturday morning, Dec. 13, for the 2014 Candy Cane Course Run organized by Bodies Health and Fitness. A portion of proceeds from the run will support Starlight’s education programs.Participants can also bring new toys to donate to Toys for Tots.

As the race’s 2014 charity partner, Starlight will receive funds to support important education programs such as Vincent Legacy Scholarships, Starlight STARS of Tomorrow, performing arts camps and the Blue Star Awards.

Registration for the Candy Cane Course – offering 5K and 10K walks/runs and a 1-mile fun walk – is now open. Runners and walkers who are fans of Starlight can help raise funds by entering STARLIGHT as the offer code when registering. Each STARLIGHT code entered returns a $5 donation to Starlight’s education programs.

Race day festivities kick off at 7:30 a.m. with costume contest judging and a pre-run stretch session. The race begins at 8 a.m. After the race, participants will enjoy snacks, performances by the Starlight STARS of Tomorrow, photo opportunities with characters from Starlight’s 2015 Broadway series and a special appearance by the jolly old elf!
Those who cannot race but would still like to support Starlight’s education programs can volunteer on race day in a variety of capacities.

Starlight’s education programs touch the lives of more than 5,000 area students each year. Our camps, classes, in-school and community programs, awards and scholarships offer theatrical instruction and educational opportunity for children of all ages. Starlight offers 11 programs, all of which support our community by employing approximately 38 local teaching artists each year.
