CBIZ President Leads Starlight Board

Carolyn Watley, who serves as President of CBIZ Benefits & Insurance Services of Kansas City, has added an important new title to her civic leadership résumé – Chair of the Starlight Theatre Board of Directors.

Watley joined the Starlight board in 2012 and served as Vice Chair of Strategic Planning in 2013-14. She succeeds Russ Welsh in the board’s top leadership role in 2015, and said she is thankful for the opportunity to lead her fellow board members and Starlight staff in building upon the theatre’s past success and steering its future course.

For Watley, it’s personal. “I grew up not far from Starlight, and I used to ride my bike through Swope Park,” she recalled. “I saw many shows here, starting at a young age. Years later, one of my daughters was married at Starlight, and another of my daughters is now very active in Starlight’s young professionals group, Center Stage.”

Because of those and other special memories, Watley considers Starlight her favorite local arts organization, adding, “I will work hard to ensure Starlight Theatre remains a Kansas City treasure!”

Starlight thanks Watley for her leadership and for adding Starlight to her list of civic and community service roles, which also include the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, American Heart Association, Metropolitan Community College Foundation, Benedictine College and more.
