Just in case you weren’t able to catch The King and I or Kinky Boots at Starlight - never fear! The West End revival of 42nd Street, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The King and I from Lincoln Center, the Tony Award winning play Red, Much Ado About Nothing from the Public Theatre, and the Broadway blockbuster Kinky Boots will all make their broadcast premieres this November as part of PBS’ Great Performances performing arts television series. This will be the third season of Great Performances, bringing Broadway’s best and increasingly diverse theatre offerings to audiences worldwide.
Paul McCartney Confirms Plans For ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ Stage Musical
The iconic Beatle, Paul McCartney, plus the beloved Christmas movie, It’s A Wonderful Life? As soon as next year, this unique pairing could be on its way to potentially forming the greatest musical of our time. McCartney, known for his soulful rhythms and renowned pop hits, has been hard at work writing and composing songs for the first ever production of It’s A Wonderful Life musical. After receiving the rights from Paramount, producer Bill Kenwright, knew McCartney was the one he wanted to work with to make this the best it could be. We’ll keep you posted on updates as we have them, but like Kenwright says - “It’s musical theatre—but its always McCartney.”
Fans of American rock band ZZ Top will soon be able to enjoy their iconic hits in a brand-new way. Sharp Dressed Man, a jukebox musical about a Lone Star auto mechanic who becomes a modern-day Robin Hood, is set to premiere in Las Vegas in 2020. Can’t wait for the musical? Us either! The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers ZZ Top are celebrating their 50th year this year with a massive North American tour this summer - including a stop at Starlight Theatre Sunday, September 1.
