CATEGORY: Broadway

Last month we kicked off of an ongoing weekly Twitter series, #MusicalMonday. Each week we’ll share a song from a different musical circulating around a common theme for the month!

What could have been a more fitting theme to start our series, than Tony winning and nominated shows for Best Musical? June’s #MusicalMonday series featured songs from A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and MurderSchool of RockBright Star and Waitress. Below is a sample from last month’s selected songs.

A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love & Murder

A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder follows Monty Navarro as he learns an incredible secret: he is the “son of the daughter of the grandson of nephew of the second Earl of Highhurst.” In other words, Monty Navarro is an aristocrat — if he can only find a way to prevent the eight earls preceding him from inheriting the earldom first. Buoyed along by love for two different women, the stunning and self-centered Sibella and the pious and witty Phoebe, Monty takes on his mission.

School of Rock

When the jobless rocker seizes an opportunity to pose as a substitute teacher at a prestigious private school for a few extra bucks, he is in inspired by the musical talents of the students there. With their well-trained abilities and his rockstar attitude, he believe they can for a hard-rocking band and win the local battle of the band competition – unfortunately, the children’s parents and teach don’t quite see it that way.

Bright Star

Bright Star is a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ‘40s.
