Starlight Gives Back

Starlight Theatre staff is proud to have partnered with Operation Breakthrough to adopt a local family this holiday season.

Our adopted family included a single mother and seven children ages 6 months to 12 years. Starlight staff donated gifts ranging from fishing poles and riding toys to Barbie dolls and art supplies. We also provided gift cards for children’s shoes, a gift card for the mother, money for the family’s Christmas dinner and a $100 Walmart gift card for the family to use toward necessities after the holidays.

Kudos to Starlight’s group sales coordinator Staci Shute for organizing the adoption. “I enjoy giving back and volunteering for the community, especially during the holiday season,” Staci said. “All of us at Starlight feel good that we could help those in need and make sure these children have gifts to open this Christmas!”

As a not-for-profit organization itself, Starlight makes it a priority to give back to the greater Kansas City community. Each season more than 11,000 individuals served by local charities and social service agencies receive free community tickets to see a Starlight Broadway show.

We encourage other Kansas City organizations to lend a helping hand, too, whether by adopting a family, volunteering to cook a meal or simply donating to your favorite charity. #StarlightGives
