Starring Our Interns

In my first two weeks of interning at Starlight, I have realized how much I enjoy a job where every day is different. Running around, making content, collaborating with other interns and learning so much has kept me busy and, on my toes, but it’s exactly what I hoped for in an internship.

My name is Ann Vukcevich and I am the Digital Marketing Intern for summer 2025. As I prepared for final years at the University of Missouri, I wanted to find an internship that was not only exciting and fun but also relevant to my career goals and personal interests. Growing up I was highly involved in theater and fine arts but when college began, it was something I left behind. Although I still watch Broadway shows and love live music, I haven’t stepped inside a theater in over three years.

While browsing for a summer internship, I stumbled upon a job listing in the exact place I wanted to be. After researching and making connections, I found the Starlight Internship program was exactly what I had been looking for. It intertwined my career in marketing/communications and my love for fine arts. I’d been excited about this position for months and starting the job a few weeks ago has exceeded my expectations.

On the interns’ second day, Mean Girls had its opening night. It was a hectic but exciting week of hands-on learning and team bonding. I was able to attend a performance, help promote the show, and even meet with one of the actors for a Fox4 segment. We ended the week with Starry Night at Starlight, a fundraising event to thank the All-Stars who raised money to fund the Bob Rohlf Internship program. It was the perfect time to have fun with the other interns and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Starlight.

The second week was just as busy as the first. With School of Rock opening soon, Starlight’s 75th birthday, an intern trip to the zoo and plenty on the to-do list, I have stayed busy and engaged with this program. One of my favorite things about this internship is how different every day is. Instead of doing the same thing every day, we’re encouraged to ask questions, lean into creativity, and keep learning.

Each day at Starlight has challenged and pushed me outside my comfort zone, which is exactly what I was looking for. This internship has already exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to what the rest of the summer has in store.
