A crowd of nearly 100 came together in early January to celebrate the talents, accomplishments and ambitions of a group of very special young people. The annual Vincent Legacy Scholarship holiday dinner brought together 17 Vincent Legacy Scholars, their parents, guardians, families and Starlight Theatre staff for an evening of conversation and performances.

The evening has become a treasured tradition for Starlight’s Vincent Legacy Scholarship program, as past scholarship recipients reunite to share their both their successes and challenges. This year’s holiday diner took place Jan. 8 at Grand Street Cafe on the Plaza.

The Vincent Legacy Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 with a generous contribution from Starlight Board member and longtime Starlight supporters Greg and Rebecca Reid. The need-based scholarship and mentoring program provides ethnically diverse youth in Kansas City the opportunity to pursue professional training in the performing arts. Over the course of the program’s 11 years, a total of 29 scholarships with a combined value of $70,000 have been awarded to qualifying middle-school students.
