We’re Loving These Lists

They’re making the lists, and at Starlight Theatre we’re checking them twice! National and local list-makers continue to give a nod to Starlight as one of the best places to spend a summer night.

Just this week, Visit KC shared online its “15 Reasons to Love KC this Summer.” Among its listing of “new and noteworthy to tried and true favorites,” Starlight scored two mentions:

#4 – Move to the Music

With an awesome Starlight concert photo as the lead-in, this item highlighting top summer music options advises that music lovers “seeFrozen’s Idina Menzel at Starlight Theatre on Aug. 12.” (P.S. There are currently 15 other concert events on our 2015 schedule, too, and more will be announced soon!)

#7 – Take in a Tony Favorite

Touting the award-winning shows and musicals ready to heat up KC, the list suggests a visit to “Starlight Theatre – KC’s showplace underneath the stars – for the always-popular Pippin, winner of the 2013 Tony for Best Musical Revival.” (P.S. Tickets are on sale now for this Broadway extravaganza at Starlight on June 30-July 5, including a FREE 4th of July fireworks spectacular after the show!)

And last month, Fodor’s Travel gave Starlight a national nod in its online listing of the “10 Best Outdoor Music Venues in the U.S.”

The packed-house concert photo is accompanied by a brief description of Starlight’s unique venue and history, including a brief mention of the time Harry Truman made a brief cameo appearance on opening night of Mr. President in August 1964. (P.S. It left out the detail that President Truman had to make an early exit that same night when an appendicitis attack stole his curtain call!)

Fodor’s apparently has taken a liking to Starlight. In 2014, we were ranked among “Summer’s 10 Best Outdoor Theater Experiences.”
