On this week’s episode, a Kansas City family defies gravity, Starlight is set to announce the Blue Star Awards nominations, and Hamilton will stream live this summer.

'Everyone deserves a chance to fly': Family puts on sky-high performances of 'Wicked' for neighbors

In late April, a Kansas City family decided that they would take to the skies to bring joy to neighbors, friends and family during quarantine with their own rendition of “Defying Gravity” from the hit Broadway show Wicked. After she was invited to a friend’s birthday parade that required a costume, Isabel Perry came up with an epic one - she wanted to dress as Elphaba from Wicked - but only if she could fly like Elphaba does in the show. With less than 12-hours until showtime, Isabel’s parents - who happen to be theatre professionals - created a rig that allowed her to take flight. Thank you, Isabel, for reminding us that “Everyone Deserves a Chance to Fly.”

‘Hamilton’ Movie Will Stream on Disney Plus on July 3

Get ready to be in the Room Where It Happens! Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda announced earlier this month that the much-anticipated Broadway hit will be released earlier than anticipated. The film version of the live performance was originally set to be released October 15 of 2021, but because of the coronavirus pandemic, Disney will release Hamilton on Disney Plus on July 3 of this year. Built out of three live performances, the Hamilton film features the entire original Broadway cast and is directed by Thomas Kail (Kale), who also directed the stage production.
