Encanto, Raise Our Voices and A Very Boy Band Holiday

Disney’s newest musical film, Encanto, hit theatres Thanksgiving Day with plans to stream on Disney Plus December 24. Encanto tells the story of Mirabel, an ordinary girl in an extraordinary family, living in a charmed place called Encanto. Everyone in the family posesses a magical power except her--but when the magic surrounding Encanto is in danger, she might just be the family’s last hope. Lin-Manuel Miranda, the mind behind Broadway’s Hamilton, wrote the eight original songs for the film in both Spanish and English. Check it out in theatres today and on Disney Plus December 24.

Starlight is excited to announce that season two of Raise Our Voices, our performance series focusing on amplifying social awareness, premiered this month on our social media channels. Earlier this year, Starlight assembled an Artistic Advisory Committee comprised of community artists and art educators, who then search and select artists to collaborate with. Together, each Artistic Advisor and Featured Performer pair decide on the concept, technique and messaging for their performance before rehearsing and filming at Starlight. Check out the new season @kcstarlight, where new videos will be released monthly.

Calling all ‘90s kids - the holiday celebration you’ve dreamed of is here. ABC will air “A Very Boy Band Holiday” Monday, December 6 at 7 p.m. central time and will feature a number of beloved members of everyone’s favorite boy bands. Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, Shawn Stockman, Bobby Brown, Nick and Drew Lachey and many more have all been tapped to sing some of their groups’ favorite holiday hits, and unnamed “surprise guests” are also expected to make an appearance. In addition to the classic tunes, the special will also feature a number of brand new songs. Catch “A Very Boy Band Holiday” on December 6 on ABC.
