The 2021 AdventHealth Broadway Season kicks off with Godspell, a sensational musical written by John-Michael Tebelak coming to Starlight June 22-27. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, this show is the perfect musical for today, as it continues to inspire audiences with its messages of hope and love. Godspell is a riveting retelling of the Gospel of Matthew and includes chart-topping songs by Stephen Schwartz such as the popular hit “Day by Day.” Starlight is excited to have Director and Choreographer Jerry Jay Cranford and Music Director Anthony T. Edwards for this production. A Kansas City cast will bring this impactful performance to life on the Starlight stage.

“In the Heights,” the new movie musical, is now available on HBO Max and in theatres. The film is based on the stage musical of the same name that opened on Broadway in 2008 and ran at the Richard Rodgers Theatre until 2011. The stage musical was nominated for 13 Tony Awards in 2008, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical. “In the Heights” follows the story of several residents of the Washington Heights neighborhood in Manhattan, New York, including Usnavi, a bodega owner who dreams of a better life. The film adaptation is directed by Jon M. Chu, the director of “Crazy Rich Asians” and written by Pulitzer Prize winner Quiara Alegría Hudes, with a score by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of Hamilton.

Daniel Quadrino Releases New Single 'Feel Your Love'

Feel Your Love

Feel your love as we celebrate Pride Month! Singer, songwriter and Broadway performer Daniel Quadrino recently released the new single, “Feel Your Love,” as a pride anthem, describing it as a “love letter to all those who have been separated from the ones they love most” during the pandemic. Quadrino has previously been in NBC’s Peter Pan Live!, on tour with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and in the Broadway productions of Wicked, Newsies and the Bye, Bye, Birdie revival. “Feel Your Love” was co-written by Phil Yancey and William Smith IV. Starlight wishes you all a safe and happy Pride Month!

HBO Sets Premiere For ‘Revolution Rent’ Doc From Exec Producer Neil Patrick Harris

“Revolution Rent” debuts on HBO and HBO Max Tuesday, June 15, at 8 p.m. and will be available on demand the next day. This documentary follows Andy Señor Jr. as he goes to Cuba, his parents’ home country, to direct the musical Rent. Señor has been very connected to Rent since he performed in the Broadway production in the 1990s as the character Angel. Señor sought to make a positive impact on Cuban citizens through Rent, which was the first Broadway musical produced by an American company in Cuba in over 50 years. The documentary shows how the cast and crew connected to the musical and to each other throughout the production. You can see “Revolution Rent” this Tuesday on HBO.
