Starlight’s Getting Steamy

CATEGORY: Indoor Series

We’re trying something new at Starlight Theatre this February – and it looks like things will definitely be heating up!

After playing to sold-out houses across the country, 50 Shades! The Musical Parody will premiere in Kansas City at Starlight – indoors and under cover – for eight performances Feb. 10-15. Just over 500 seats in our climate-controlled stage house will be available for each show. This is Starlight’s first foray into taking a show indoors on-site!

Couples, girlfriends, moms, daughters, even grandmas are clamoring to see this sexy, satirical sendup of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” phenomenon, spurred by the uber-popular book trilogy and a feature film that opens Valentine’s Day.

The national touring production and laugh-out-loud satire explores the steamy relationship between Christian Grey and Anastasia Steel, as seen through the eyes of a trio of girlfriends at a book club meeting. As the women devour the novel, the characters’ affair comes to life before their eyes. The sassy score includes such songs as “Open Your Book,” “I Don’t Make Love” and “There is a Hole Inside of Me.”

Starlight will offer evening performances all six nights (including Valentine’s Day!), and matinees are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Ticket prices begin at $35, and self-parking is free. VIP ticket packages, which include a premium seat, complimentary valet parking, a show CD and post-show meet and greet with cast members, are also available for purchase.
