Starlight Honors this Years Vincent Legacy Scholarship Recipients
Earlier this month, Starlight leaders, supporters and staff honored our four most recent Vincent Legacy Scholarship recipients on stage prior to the Friday evening performance of On Your Feet!. Noa Henderson, Savannah Jordan, Samyra Regalado and Chamberlain Webster each earned a $2,500 scholarship to use toward their future arts training and enjoyed dinner and a reception with their families prior to the on-stage recognition. After being awarded on stage, the group enjoyed the performance of On Your Feet!. We’re so proud of these students and can’t wait to see what they continue to accomplish with these scholarships!
The Dear Evan Hansen Movie is Headed to Theatres
Dear Evan Hansen, the Tony Award-winning blockbuster, is headed to the silver screen. The film version stars Ben Platt, who also originated the title role on Broadway. Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a socially anxious teenager who finds himself struggling to connect in a hyperconnected world. When one of his classmates dies, Evan gets caught in a web of lies in an attempt to build a relationship with the deceased student’s family. Dear Evan Hansen opens in movie theatres this month and is expected to stream later this year.
Cynthia Erivo Releases a Children’s Picture Book
Broadway star Cynthia Erivo adds “author” to her resume this month with the release of “Remember to Dream, Ebere.” Erivo made her Broadway debut in the 2015 revival of The Color Purple and won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical that season, and she most recently starred as Aretha Franklin in the American drama television series Genius. Her children’s book is an inspirational and heartwarming tale of a mother and child, and the dreams they build together. The book is an ode to a child’s imagination, a parent’s love, and the big dreams shared by both. Order it on Amazon for release September 28.
