Match the Musician and the Musical: Jonas Brothers
Whether you grew up with the Jonas Brothers or your kids/grandchildren did, the Jo Bros are all grown up themselves and celebrating almost 20 years of music on their World Tour.
Today, Claire in Philanthropy does the honors to match the musician to the musical.

The Cher Show – โHappiness Beginsโ
โHappiness Beginsโ is the 2019 album that marked the end of the nearly 10-year hiatus of the Jonas Brothers band. Both the Jonas Brothers and Cher have released music that finds a new way to reach multi-generational fans. Full of love and upbeat chart toppers, The Cher Show is definitely a โHappiness Beginsโ fan.

Disneyโs The Little Mermaid – Album: Feeling Alive
Created in their Disney Channel era, the Jonas Brothers โFeeling Aliveโ has so many parallels to The Little Mermaid!
The title song asks
Have you ever felt like youโre like standing on a rooftop?
Have you ever wanted to scream?
We have to believe that Ariel would relate to these lyrics more than anyone after losing her voice and gaining legs all in the same day!
On โYour Biggest Fan,โ they sing
Itโs you who makes me sing.
I may not know where we are, but I know who I am.
Baby Iโm your biggest fan.
Ariel would absolutely relate to this while trying to share all her feelings with Prince Eric.
โInvisibleโ sounds like it was taken out of Prince Ericโs inner monologue! โI can feel you all around, in the silence I can hear the sound of your footsteps on the ground and my heart slows down.โ
It seems like โFeeling Aliveโ really represents falling in love with a beautiful and mysterious girl with no words needed to be spoken, I canโt think of a better album for The Little Mermaid!

Stomp – โJonas Brothersโ
The fast-paced album that opens with gut-wrenching break up song โS.O.Sโ is absolutely Stomp personified. While we hope Stomp never has to feel like theyโre โwalking on broken glass,โ we know they would be able to convey that heartbreak on stage like the Jonas Brothers do in their debut album. All the tracks are so full of passion and storytelling, itโs the perfect album for Stomp!

Shrek – โThe Albumโ
The upbeats hit on โThe Albumโ are perfect for a road trip to travel across the country to rescue a princess locked away in a tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon. Songs like โSummer Babyโ will have you up dancing in your seat like a Smash Mouth concert.
We all know Donkey would be thrilled getting the chance to sing โWaffle Houseโ at full volume (no humming!) These lyrics sound like a bonus line in โTravel Songโ in Shrek the Musical!
No, donโt get stressed, itโs gonโ get figured out.
Oh, deep conversation at the Waffle House.
We have to believe that the Jonas Brothers were watching Shrek at the time this was written. โCelebrateโ opens with this beautiful acoustic chorus that sounds like itโs the beginning of a wedding ceremony, promptly interrupted by the hero.

Come From Away – โLines, Vines, and Trying Timesโ
The music and the lyrics fromโLines, Vines, and Trying Timesโ are so theatrical and honest, it feels like the perfect album for Come from Away.
With lyrics including,
Stuck in a room of staring faces, yeah.
Caught in a nightmare, canโt wake-up
and
Iโm avoiding the lies โcause they just might slip.
Can someone stop the noise?
I donโt know what it is, but I just donโt fit.
This Jonas Brothersโ album tells their stories of things that didnโt work out the way they had expected and their journey to come out on the other side.
They also know the power of finding love and support from strangers in unexpected places, like Come From Away shows us in the lyric I believe that the road that people lead helps you find the one you need.
Both Come From Away and โLines, Vines, and Trying Timesโ show us the beauty that comes from the unknown, Itโs all a flash, but who would know how this story will unfold?

West Side Story – โA Little Bit Longerโ
West Side Storyโs star-crossed lovers fighting to keep their budding relationship unaffected by everyone else is best represented by the Jonas Brothersโ album โA Little Bit Longer.โ
The way Tony and Maria fall in love so quickly and deeply can be found in the lyrics from the song โShelfโ:
You know me better than I know myself.
Donโt take my heart and put it on a shelf.
One of the sweetest songs about how simple love can be, โLovebug,โ says it best:
I canโt get your smile out of my mind.
I think about your eyes all the time, youโre beautiful, but you donโt even try.
Just like West Side Story, โA Little Bit Longerโ has its own iconic song called โTonight!โ
If you give it a try, well maybe youโll find, we might work this out.
Well, we know weโre in love so letโs keep it alive tonight!
We know that Tony and Maria would request this album at the Community Center dance!

Peter Pan – โItโs about Timeโ
With growing up on the mind, we believe that Peter Pan himself would really appreciate the lyrics in the song โOne Day at a Timeโ:
Saturday, I turned sixteen.
Never dreamt youโd act so mean.
You didnโt even call me. But I still miss you.
And when I turn ninety-four, I think Iโll miss you even more and I die one day at a time.
After he befriends Wendy and has a chance to learn a little bit of responsibility, we think that Peter would blush when the song โMandyโ came on the radio.
Mandy always laughs when I act stupid.
I am unaware that I am a nuisance.
With her itโs never wasted time.
Itโs hard to imagine Peter Pan saying that time is not wasted with someone, but we think if he feels that anyone would be worth changing for, it would be Wendy.
We appreciate the album for the themes of encouragement and motivation that Wendy could surely use to help the Lost Boys and her brothers understand the importance of growing up.
