Based on L. Frank Baum’s famous children’s book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Wiz retells the well-known story with all of the characters families know and love in the context of contemporary African American culture. The musical was later released in a film adaptation and was most recently revived on Broadway in 2024.
