In each issue of this newsletter, we share news about scholar accomplishments and upcoming events. Congratulations to all of our scholars on their successes!

DESTANE JACKSON
2013 Scholar

Destane Jackson shared her performance talents with audience members at Blue Springs High School when she played the role of Nadine in the school’s Oct. 11-13 production of Dearly Departed. The comedic play is about a father who passes away and the family left behind to plan and attend his funeral. Destane’s character is an eccentric family friend who has many children named after celebrities.

ERICA BROWN
2018 Scholar

Get ready to see Erica Brown shine in the 2018 cast of the Starlight STARS of Tomorrow! Erica is among 13 Kansas City area middle school students selected for Starlight’s performance troupe and training program. She and her fellow cast members are learning a medley of seven holiday songs and associated choreography to perform at events across the metro in November and December. Click to view a full schedule of performances – and save a date to see Erica and the Starlight STARS of Tomorrow share the spirit of the season!

JAMES HAWKINS
2018 Scholar

This holiday season James Hawkins will be spending quality time with Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim and Bob Crachit. Why? Because he was recently cast in the KC Rep’s production of A Christmas Carol! There are plenty of opportunities to see James in the ensemble cast because the Rep’s annual holiday show runs for 47 performances from Nov. 16 through Dec. 30. Click to purchase tickets to see James at the Spencer Theatre on the UMKC campus.

TAHRAJI MILSAP
2018 Scholar

As part of the LEGACY Foundation’s LEGACY Arts & Theater program, Tahraji Milsap had a lead role in the Sept. 22 production of Much Madness. The play is about a troubled student in a mental hospital dealing with sadness, insanity, panic, loneliness and anger. It was performed at Musical Theater Heritage at Crown Center.
