Get ready for drinks, eats and a good time at the 5th annual After Hours at the Towers event Friday, April 24, from 8-11 p.m., at Starlight! Presented by Young Friends of Starlight, this year’s event is themed after Escape to Margaritaville, the hilarious Jimmy Buffett musical is known for hits like “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and the namesake song, “Margaritaville.”

The 21+ event will consist of a two-act evening and begins outdoors on Starlight’s Encore Deck. Kick back with complimentary themed drinks and bites from local restaurants along with games and other interactive activities. Then, enjoy the sounds of KC’s very own Lost Wax on the Starlight stage in Act II.

“It's thrilling to see all of the attendees faces light up when they enter Starlight dressed to the nines (and in theme!) to see what we've created,” Denise Dibben, 2020 After Hours at the Towers co-chair, said. “Being able to dance the night away on the stage makes you feel like you're a part of the show. It's just plain fun!”

Profits raised from After Hours at the Towers benefit Starlight’s Bob Rohlf Internship program, which provides paid summer internships to college students across multiple departments. Young Friends of Starlight has hosted the ever-growing After Hours at the Towers event to benefit the program since 2015.

“The event has come so far to become a powerhouse of a fundraising event that continually pushes itself to be bigger and better,” Dibben said. “It allows us to not only create unique experiences but also promote the summer series and celebrate the incredible shows that KC has access to. I'm especially excited for this year's Escape to Margaritaville theme.”

Young Friends of Starlight is a young professional membership group and hosts a variety of social events throughout the year. The group makes Broadway shows, concerts and special events at Starlight Theatre more accessible for young adults and provides opportunities to network and learn about various programs at the historic theatre.
